Notification To The Public Of Rights Under Title VI
The Gulf Coast Transit District (GCTD) hereby gives public notice that it is GCTD’s policy to assure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities. Title VI requires that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
Any person who believes they have been aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI has a right to file a formal complaint with GCTD. Any such complaint must be in writing and filed with GCTD’s Title VI Coordinator within one hundred and eighty (180) days following the date of the alleged discriminatory occurrence. Title VI Discrimination Complaint Forms may be obtained from this office at no cost to the complainant by calling 1-800-266-2320.
If you like more information on Title VI, please visit GCTD website (http://gulfcoasttransitdistrict.com/), or contact GCTD via phone at 1-800-266-2320, via email at Title.VI.Compliant@gctdtx.gov, or via mail at 1415 33rd St N, Texas City, TX 77590.
GCTD will provide translations of all requested documents or provide a translator at any public meetings at no cost.
This notice is to be posted in the offices, on the website (http://gulfcoasttransitdistrict.com/) , and on transit vehicles.
If information is needed in another language, contact GCTD’s Customer Service Representative at 1-800-266-2320.
Vital Documents and Language Access
GCTD identifies certain documents as “vital documents,” meaning documents that are critical for accessing services or benefits. These include, but are not limited to, complaint forms, eligibility applications, public notices, and service information.
Vital documents are made available in languages commonly spoken within the service area, consistent with GCTD’s Limited English Proficiency (LEP) plan and federal Title VI requirements. Written translation and oral interpretation services are provided free of charge upon request.
Individuals needing language assistance may contact GCTD Customer Service at 1-800-266-2320
Where to file a Complaint
Title IV complaints should initially be filed with the transit agency. It is in the best interest of all parties involved that issues raised in a complaint of discrimination be resolved at the local level.
