To improve efficiency and better serve riders, Gulf Coast Transit District is launching a new Connector Express route to streamline travel between high-demand zones in Galveston and Brazoria Counties. Starting September 22, 2025 this fixed-route bus service will provide faster, more reliable connections while allowing micro-transit vehicles to focus on shorter local trips within each zone. (This service is not a cross-county route)
“This upgrade allows us to serve more riders efficiently while keeping wait times low,” said Ted Ross, GCTD Executive Director. “The Connector Express provides a reliable, cost-free transfer option, and by keeping on-demand vehicles in their zones, we can increase overall service capacity.”
What’s Changing?
The Connector Express will operate as a fixed route running every hour, Monday through Saturday, from 6 AM to 7:50 PM, linking;
Galveston County: Texas City and Dickinson
Brazoria County: Freeport, Lake Jackson, and Angleton
Riders traveling between these zones will now be directed to the Connector Express when booking a micro-transit trip, with free transfers available to complete their journey. However, if riders are traveling on the connector express to the designated stops along the route, then no advance booking is needed, riders can simply board and exit at any stop along the route.

Key Benefits:
✔ More Availability – By reducing long-distance micro--transit trips, more vehicles stay in their zones for quicker local pickups.
✔ Flexible Options – Riders can either book a micro-transit trip (with a seamless transfer to the Connector Express) or board the bus directly at designated stops without a reservation.
How It Works:
Booking a Trip: When scheduling a micro-transit ride between zones, riders will be assigned to the Connector Express with a free transfer. Riders receive one simple itinerary with all connection details.
Connector Express Boarding: No booking needed—just show up at any Connector Express stop and ride.
Local Trips Unaffected: Micro-transit service remains unchanged for trips that start and end within the same zone.
GCTD remains committed to innovative solutions that improve mobility options for all residents across our service area. The Connector Express represents our latest effort to deliver efficient, cost-effective public transportation to community needs.
"By implementing the Connector Express for high-demand corridor travel, we're freeing up micro-transit vehicles to focus on shorter local trips while providing our community with additional transportation options." said Marcus Alexander, GCTD Director of Operations.
